Completion of Tech 1 Training

Just last month, our support engineers – Keith Comrie & Phil Knox – participated in a four-day service engineer’s training course at Emerson’s European manufacturing hub in the Netherlands.

The course focused on vortex, magnetic & coriolis meters, covering the following areas:

  • Theory of operation
  • Practical demonstrations including set-up with 475 HART Communicator, AMS & Pro-link
  • Theory of troubleshooting
  • Practical troubleshooting test

The knowledge gained from this will be of a great benefit to our support engineers and their ability to handle queries relating to Emerson’s flow products.

Staffing Update

We are pleased to announce that Phil Knox has successfully completed his probation before the 6th month mark.

Phil will continue his employment as one of our support engineers and will personally oversee all densitometer works scheduled for this year & beyond.

Meter Cleaning & Inspection

One of support engineers is pictured below investigating a 4″ Endress & Hauser coriolis meter with an endoscope.

Many of our clients opt for this procedure to determine the condition of their meters prior to as found calibrations or for report/audit purposes.

Meters are checked for LSA levels and are then cleaned with kerosene and specially designed CSFB tools before the endoscope can be inserted to assess and record the state of the thin wall tubes.

In some cases where scale is discovered we can record before and after descaling works which can be useful if undertaking density/mass flow miss-measurements caused by scale build-up on the tube walls.

All calibration facilities insist on flow meters being decontaminated before being allowed on the test rig.

Typically, FisCal can conduct a full clean and check within a day, with a report and imagery to follow upon completion if required.

Micro Motion Announce New Calibration Strategy

As of January 2013, Micro Motion (Emerson) will be operating an entirely new calibration procedure in accordance with DECC’s latest requirements.

Research conducted on the combined effects of temperature & pressure on liquid densitometers has resulted in DECC stating that as of 2013, all liquid densitometer calibrations should be as per their anticipated operating conditions.

ALL 7835 Micro Motion densitometer models will be supported by the new procedure, and as of next month (December), we will be operating our entirely new inspection and cleaning facility specifically intended for Micro Motion densitometers.

Micro Motion are currently in the process of preparing their new calibration stands for full operation in mid-January next year. A target of mid-2013 has also been established for ISO 17025 approval of the new stands.

EPS Meter2di Launch

FisCal will mark the official launch of the Meter2di – designed by EPS – at this year’s upcoming North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop scheduled for October 23-26.

The Meter2di is a patented system for the process of inspecting and changing orifice plates in conformance with stringent industry guidelines.
